Serial #1217. Thanks to Guy for this instrument! Barrel: 62.9mm but not the original barrel. This one is a Jean Cartier plastic barrel. The original barrel was kept by Guy to replace a broken one on his other Jean Barre clarinet (the one reviewed on the page above this.) Looks like that other is about 64mm also. Bore LH joint top: 14.1mm Narrow! Bore LH joint at bottom: 14.3mm Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Model Comparison Page. For this test, I pulled 0 at the bell and 0 in the middle.
Intonation summary: This is a nice clarinet. The intonation problems can be addressed with lipping, as on any clarinet of this period. Key work quality: Very nice. Shined up beautifully. This clarinet is most appropriate for: Beginning to fairly advanced. A narrow bore give this a sweet and focused sound. |
