Many thanks to Dale Smotherman for giving me the opportunity to review this clarinet. Serial #??194 This clarinet was probably stolen at some point long ago. Someone defaced the serial numbers on both the LH and RH joints! The first letter could be a 1 or another letter with a straight back. Barrel: 66.6mm Bore LH joint top: 14.8mm Bore LH joint at bottom: 15.0mm The difference here does not look good. This is the wrong direction for a poly-cylindrical instrument. Intonation results taken when playing loud and not lipping. See how to interpret these results on the Model Comparison Page. For this test, I pulled 0mm at the barrel and 1.0mm at the center tenon.
Intonation summary: This is really great intonation for a non-poly-cylindrical clarinet. Key work quality: Excellent, as is typical for this brand. This clarinet is most appropriate for: Anyone, even a college clarinet major. Condition issues noted: It’s in great shape other than the defacing of the serial numbers. |
